Welcome 2006

here's hoping that you had a wonderful 2005 and that you have an even better 2006!
Congressional elections are this year.. it is my true hope that the system of checks and balances that our forefathers intended, come back into play this election, so that the USA may once again be a respected country in our world.. and that we work to make our country and our world a better place for those who are coming up behind us.. Lets all work together to make 2006 a year that we take our country back!
Peace

Nirvana!

Today we spent the second day visiting with boo's bro and sister-in-law and our niece and nephew..
OK, I know everyone thinks their kids and grandkids are like the cutest kids in the world. but well... even though I am more than slightly biased.. Our nephew is the most adorable little boy that ever was... :)
he is so cute I just can't stand it.. and our niece, who we just met but is about 3 months old, well.. she's a cutie as well.. she's just starting to develop a bit of personality where her expressions change.. she likes to talk.. well ok coo.. but it is cute..
I feel bad, cause I know that packin up two kids, and not being in your house, and having all of these people around, must be difficult for the sleep schedules and just schedules in general, but I am so glad that we are able to spend some quality time. Since boo doesn't really ever see her other nieces, I know how much it means to her to be a part of their lives. Even if it hasn't been as much as she may have wanted.. I really think it is a great thing.. and well.. heck I love kids.. and these kids make it hard not to love them.. Who could resist a two year old saying "aunt ewizabeff, I need to find something to put in the front loader to dump into the dump truck.. can you help me?" ( he has a tremendous vocabulary and sentence structure.. really!) So biscuit spent a LOT of time on the floor digging holes for swimming pools, and playing with trucks.. It was the most fun I have had in quite a while.. and I can't wait to get up again tomorrow and do it all over again..
I REALLY can't wait for christmas morning..
I hope to get back up to posting on a more regular basis once my work schedule smooths out a bit in january.. thanks to all who have been checking to make sure I was all right.. everything is great.. just insanely busy!

Oh.. btw .. went to see a musician named Sarah Bettens perform last weekend.. I first heard of Sarah, when she and her brother formed the band K's Choice and they opened for the indigo girls..(two kids all the way from belgium) I really enjoy sarah's voice, and her songwriting.. and I encourage you to check out her new solo project "Scream"
I hope that you will enjoy it as much as we have..
ok.. time for me to hit the hay....
peace..

Survivor Finale!

This season of survivor has got to be one of the best on record.. The elements were brutal, and there were some of the hardest physical challenge in the series thus far..
The winner Danni Boatwright, pretty much flew under the radar until the last few episodes.. While she did some maneuvering to stay in that game, I have to say that the wrong person won survivor.
Everyone knows that Stephenie LaGrossa is my favorite survivor contestant.. Last season she absolutely got railed in being the final member of her tribe standing, only to get voted out towards the end of the game.
And that’s exactly what it is.. it is a game.. Had the people on the jury truly voted for the person who played the GAME the best, steph would have won hands down.. She dominated this season, she crafted the alliances, and she made most of the decisions for the tribe.. Judd foolishly believed, I think, that he was running the game.. And what a sore loser he was, calling his tribe mates “scumbags”, and wishing they were eaten by crocodiles.
The jury didn’t vote for the best player.. the jury voted for the person who was nicer, who didn’t make any waves.
Rafe, was also a strong challenger, but during the challenge in which Cindy won a car, he started to get on my nerves.. his “nicer than nice” persona started to crack, and we started to see the passive aggressive person that he was in this game. After absolving Danni of any alliance or promise she had made to him after a particularly brutal challenge for the final 3 in which steph and Danni fought till the end and ultimately steph’s body gave out on her… Rafe ran up to her and told her to take whoever she wanted to with her to the final two. Danni chose steph.. knowing, most likely, that she could beat her.. and she did..
The thing that bugs me though is that the people voted out were such sore losers.. just so annoyed that they could have been manipulated in the game.. it’s a GAME people.. the whole point it to outwit, outlast.. and that means sometimes manipulation and playing people off each other.. I don’t necessarily think that steph did anything worthy of having her be eaten by a croc… she played the game.. and she played it well.. in the end though, those people on the jury voted a popularity contest, instead of who played the game the best.. if they had.. the winner surely would have been Stephenie Lagrossa.. Truly the ultimate survivor.

angel tree

Tonight boo and I made a midnight shopping run for our angel..
Every year our station sponsors a group home and we pick a child to try to help have a good christmas.. In years past there were no real suggestions to go on except size.. this year they actually listed suggestions for what the children wanted, which was great..
So off we went with our list in hand.. I had told boo that to I would rather spend money on the child then get presents myself.. Christmas is for children.. I don't need anything really.. and even though I'm sure boo has plenty of stuff planned for me to open it just isn't that important to me in the grand scheme..
I wonder sometimes if it isn't part of me feels like had I not been adopted, what would my life have been like.. I can't imagine being a 4 year old living in some sort of home with no family at christmas.. but I very well could have been.
So, we went a little overboard with the presents, but hopefully it will make for a good christmas for our angel.. a couple of new dresses for church with some boots, some educational leap frog books, and some toys.. and some other random stuff.
lots of little presents for a little one to tear open on christmas morning..
It's a weird thing.. but it makes me happy to do it..

The decorations at the house will hopefully get put up this weekend.. the weather has been crappy here so I'm hoping it will clear up! We are going to the new Georgia Aquarium if you haven't seen it or heard about it yet, check out the web site.. it is phenomenal!!!! I can't wait.. boo got a special sneak peek before it opened, so this will be her second time.. but it's my first and I can't wait! I love the otters!
So one more day of work and off to the aquarium!
hope everyone has a great weekend planned!
peace out!

she's my seeeeeester!

so I wanted to share this picture cause.. well it's cute..
there ya have my big sister..that's her on the left... (or seester as I like to call her) when I was a baby, she took care of me for some reason.. it wasn't that my mother didn't.. my sister just wanted to.. my mother woke up at a feeding time and found my sister.. holding me and me suckin on a bottle.. She was always lookin out for me....
through the years we've had our moments.. We didn't always like each other.. we always loved each other, but I think each of us didn't understand the other much in our younger years.. When we became adults, we got closer.. we talk on the phone weekly now sometimes a few times a week depending on our schedules.. and I have started this small weird tradition of singing into her answering machine.. come on.. anyone can just leave a phone message.. I will rework the lyrics of songs and leave them on her machine.. a different one every time.. my favorite is my version of tom jones' "she's a lady"
"she's got style she's got grace she's got such a pretty face she's muh seester!"
What can I say.. it makes me laugh.. she never knows what kind of message I'm gonna leave..
so here's to ya seester.. I'm glad that I learned to appreciate the person that you are and even if ya could pick your family (cause you know they say you can't) I would still pick you....warts and all (just an expression.. she is actually wart-less as far as I know!)
Just wanted to let ya know I love ya!
